FAQ - WebFadds.com WordPress Installation Service

WebFadds.com offers professional installation and upgrades (get going with version 2.5) for WordPress on your server or one of our world-class hosting plans (Review the “ProBlogger Plan” with FREE domain name), with a package of Nine professional templates (WordPress “themes”), and Six essential plugins — see examples below.
Here is an overview and some frequently asked questions with answers about our installation service:
F.A.Q.
1. What do we get for your service, and why are there two rates?
We professionally install WordPress for you on your hosting server for $79, or on ours (see WebFaddsHosting.com) for $49. Other servers vary in requirements, and usually take more time for us to perform the work. In either case, you receive a professional installation with 12 professional WordPress templates, plus 6 essential plugins (see below). And, you get a FREE domain name for your new blog or CMS website on our ProBlogger plan.
2. For upgrades do you guarantee our plugins will work?
No. All plugin functionality is the responsibility of their respective authors. We have already found a number of plugins that do not yet work with WordPress version 2.5, though it is likely that most will be updated soon. In the mean time you can check directly with the authors (see links on your Plugins page) to see if they are current, and also review the list at the WordPress Codex of known plugins with problems. We will turn off your plugins during upgrade, then restore only those that work properly.
3. Tell us more about the templates included in your installation?
Sure. We selected these templates because they offer a variety of layout and designs, are widget ready, and most offer you some custom editing choices from within the WordPress admin. area.

(click to enlarge) NOTE: There are a lot of other templates out there, and we will be pleased to track down one that will work best for you, if we find that any of the standard 12 will not meet your needs. UPDATE 03.01.08: we’ve added three more templates to your basic install set — now 12 total.
4. Please give an overview of the essential plugins you include with this service.
Ok. They include plugins to Optimize your WordPress Database, a response Form with an “AutoResponder”, which sends an automatic reply of your choice to a visitor that fills out a contact form at your site, a Spam Killer plugin that guards against comment spam, a social marketing plugin to help build awareness of your website, and an a plugin that helps people be recognized (Open ID) to make commenting and registration easier.

You can request and download a back-up at any time, plus we set it to email you a database backup once per week, or more often if you like.
Also included (new) is a Search plugin that extends WordPress search capabilities to pages and comments, in addition to posts, and a “Fuzzy Widget” plugin (currently not updated to work with version 2.5 — we will substitute another plugin) that gives more controls over the widgets that go in your sidebar(s).
5. Could you please explain how to use the Contact Form with AutoResponder?
NOTE: On WordPress 2.5 installations we are now using CFormsII — see their site for installation notes and examples.
Dragon Design Form Mailer (on installations older than 2.5): Think of it as a two step process. First you go to Options > DDFM1 and fill out the content details your visitors will receive via email after they fill out your contact form. Then, you simply enter the form into any page or post using the code for that form (example shown below). This is a great time saver, and you can place links to more information and FAQs, and order forms in the auto-response message your web visitors will receive. Review these helpful illustrations below — click on them to enlarge them.

Above, “DDFM1?, under the “Options” menu is where you type in the details of your auto response message. Note that you may have more than one form and message set-up — you request more than one at “DDFM-Main”.

Simply insert a form/autoresponder you have created into any post or page by adding the short snippet of code shown above.
6. Why is WordPress a good solution for our Website needs?
WordPress began as a blog solution, almost three years ago with excellent ability to put out RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds, and provide a number of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) advantages including automatic tagging and pinging functions. It has grown into a full “CMS” (Content Management System) solution which can drive an entire website for good size companies. Ford Motors, a number of Universities and publishing organizations use it. It is Open Source software, which means there is no cost to obtain a copy and install it. It is backed by a for profit company (Automattic.com — which itself has the backing of the New York Times Co. and other major groups) which provides paid support services, and of course there are a number of service providers like WebFadds.com that provide related services. The bottom line is that it is easy to use, automates tasks, allows non-technical users to write and post articles, and gives your site some excellent SEO advantages.
7. Do you offer an upgrade, and how is it different than using a plugin to upgrade WordPress?
Yes, we offer a WordPress upgrade service for $49 on our servers, or $79 on yours (same as installation). While there are “one-click” plugins that help you upgrade WordPress, we like to do it the “old-school” way with a direct installation that doesn’t rely on a plug-in. Plus we add our standard 12 professional templates, and four essential plugins as described above.
8. What is your guarantee on this installation service?
Rest assured that if we are upgrading, we back-up your WordPress database first. And whether installing for the first time, or upgrading, we guarantee that our service will be done right. Period. Beyond that, the functioning of WordPress itself is the responsibility of the people who program and offer it (WordPress.org, and Automattic.com). And, the responsibility for correct functioning of plugins, and interactions with other plugins is that of the plugin authors themselves, whose site links may be found in the Plugin area of your WordPress admin. site.
